All You Have Is Now

There is no tomorrow. There is no later. There is no next Monday, next month or next year. There is only here and now and it’s time to fight like hell for the circumstances that you want.

If you look in the mirror and are unhappy with what you see, then it is your responsibility to make changes now. How do you want to feel? What do you want to look like? How do you want to show up for yourself, family, and friends? What kind of person do you want to be? What are their habits?

Does the person you want to be reach for a Snickers bar every single time they’re upset? Do they stop by the drive thru after work because they’re emotionally drained from work? Do they stick to their commitment to exercise after work despite a difficult day or do they sit on the couch scrolling through social media and watching Netflix? Does your future self lie to themselves about how they want to feel?

Does your future self play with their kids or sit on the sidelines too physically exhausted to move? Do they hypocritically tell their kids they can become whoever they want in life, except that they’ve given up on themselves?

If you are unhappy with your job, then it is your responsibility to figure out plan B now. What do you want to be doing? Who do you want to be working for? How much do you want to make each month? Where do you want to work? How do you want to feel? Inaction speaks volumes. If you are doing nothing to change your circumstances now, you will stay in the same place forever. And then you die. Morbid, but true.

Now before you start your next sentence with “But…” and start spewing out excuses, remember that despite the card you’ve been dealt, there are other people out there that have been dealt a worse hand, and still figured it out. So now what?

All you have is now. It’s all a domino effect; your physical and mental state will impact everything around you. Start problem solving and acting now. “Tomorrow” is synonymous with never. Are you choosing self pity and apathy, or becoming the best version of you by doing something now?
